In addition to the resources below, there are a number of ways to help the rescue efforts in Haiti. Unfortunately, due to the risk of aftershocks, travel to Haiti is limited to emergency personnel and relief organizations. A local organization is listed below that might help you to connect with people who can help directly.

What I have heard from people in Haiti and people connected with the country (my mother-in-law and many of my close friends are still missing and others are searching for them), is that the devastation is catastrophic and both of the main hospitals are knocked down. As a result, all of the medical care will have to be coordinated with the help of temporary structures and obviously a lot of international support. I have received word about a few other organizations, in particular Partners In Health, which will provide direct medical care to people in Haiti and has been operating in the country for 23 years.
